Basic Training II

Training is still going well. I’ve decided against going for Airborne school because of the upcoming log rolling season that immediately follows. Airborne School is a lot of abuse on the legs, both from running and from jumping. I would rather use my energy to redeem myself for last years pitiful performance and win my world title in log rolling back. I did manage to achieve a perfect 300 on my PT score yesterday though. I stopped at 80 pushups, so that I had enough energy to do 83 situps, and I ran my 2 miles in 11:43. I could probably increase my running abilities with some better shoes, as the Army assigned shoes are royal crap. Funny, you can run around with $7k night vision but are given $50 running shoes. All I can say is I’m looking forward to getting out of here. Being one of the only people in my platoon that isn’t 18 or 19 makes you feel like a baby sitter. That high school I’m rebelling against authority attitude drives me nuts. 7 weeks of training down, 7 more to go.
