153 Degrees

153 degrees. That was the verified temperature inside our up-armored HUMMWVs while on patrol a couple days ago. The AC was broken in two of our trucks. The outside temperature was 120 degrees. With the addition of our side plate armor (courtesy of thousands of worried, complaining, congress writing mothers and fathers) my body armor weighs over 50 pounds with all my ammo and gear. Stepping out of the trucks never felt so good. I think it’s the only time 120 degrees will ever feel cool and refreshing.
